NIAGARA FALLS — Johnny Flynn injured a shoulder during a recent pickup game according to Niagara Falls assistant coach Sal Constantino, but the Wolverines star will still play in tonight’s PAL/ACE game at Niagara Falls High School. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
Flynn will join teammate Rahshon Tabb on a team coached by Sweet Home coach Paul Schintzius and Hamburg coach Pat Cauley.
Constantino, one of the organizers of the event, said the game should be worth the trip.
“I really like to think this is the top showcase around this area. We probably have the best talent overall that we’ve ever had. Last year we had a Paul Harris but this year the talent pool is much deeper,” Constantino said. “They should be two very good games and more importantly two competitive games. In one of the Rochester games the other night one team scored 160 points, but we’ve talked to the kids and they’re definitely going to play hard and play competitively.”
Lewiston-Porter girls coach Tina Williams will be coaching in her third PAL/ACE game tonight. She likes the looks of her team — which includes Destiny Harrison from Niagara Falls, and a pair of Newfane players in Margo Weber and Laura Hambruch.
“We’ve got a lot of speed and height on our team,” Williams said. “It’s great because we get to coach a bunch of girls that love to play and are the best in Western New York. It’s a real honor to have the ability to be part of something so special.”
