DELPHI: Congressional committee will hold hearing on benefits

Staff Reports

A U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee is planning on conducting a hearing on the handling of Delphi Corp. pensions.

The House Education and Labor Committee’s subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions will be holding the hearing on Dec. 2. Delphi retirees had their pensions turned over to the federal Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. which could lead to significant cuts.

Rep. Chris Lee, R-Clarence, sent a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa, the ranking member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Lee said he had been in constant contact with Issa, who agreed the Delphi pensions should be looked into.
