YOUNGSTOWN: Yacht club to reopen next week

The Youngstown Yacht Club will reopen in February following its annual closing in January for repairs and modifications. Officers and directors for the 2010 season are John Reinhold, commodore, Dennis Niccola, vice commodore of house, Gary Tisdale, vice commodore of fleet, Mark Schimley, vice commodore yard, Tony Byrne, treasurer, Wright Ellis, secretary, Mark Bain harbormaster, Adam Burns, director, Peter Doyle, director, Chris Guard, director, Richard Roach, director, Jason Suitor, director, and John Huebschmann, member liason.

Founded in 1931, the Youngstown Yacht Club has an active racing and cruising tradition as well as a full social calendar. It may be most well known for its annual Level Regatta which will be held this year on July 24 and 25.

The school has added fifth and sixth grade students since then and this year has an enrollment of about 350 students. This year, staff members are preparing to prove to the State Education Department that it made the right choice in allowing them to open the doors back in 2006.
