LEWISTON: St. Peter’s School welcomes new head

Former Falls administrator Maureen Ingham named principal

Maureen Ingham, a longtime teacher and administrator for Niagara Falls School District, has been hired as the new principal at St. Peter’s School in Lewiston.

A native of Lewiston, Ingham was unanimously selected by a search committee to succeed Kami Halgash, who has accepted an administrative position elsewhere, said the Rev. Sebastian C. Pierro, pastor of St. Peter’s Church.

Ingham’s first day was Monday and a meet-and-greet for parents was held in the evening.

“I am energized and excited to declare that Mrs. Ingham will bring her dynamic personality, many years of experience in education, her maturity and energy to her role as the new administrator of St. Peter’s School,” Pierro said. “I believe that Maureen will challenge all of us — faculty, staff, pastor, parents and children — to use our talents in working with her as we grow as a school family and team together.”

Ingham has over 34 years of education experience, including serving as a teacher and New York state licensed administrator for the Niagara Falls School District before retiring two years ago. She has close ties to St. Peter’s as an active parishioner for 26 years whose four children are graduates of the school.

“St. Peter’s has always been home,” Ingham said. “My faith and my religion have always been important to me.”

According to Pierro, Ingham has stated that her goal as principal is to work with the staff and families of St. Peter’s School “to promote and provide a solid educational foundation for all children, helping to build well-educated and well-rounded young men and women of strong moral character and rooted in the teachings of the Catholic faith.”
