Cave of the Winds makes 'Bucket List'

Niagara Gazette — A popular Niagara Falls attraction has been added to a magazine's list  of the "50 Coolest, Craziest and Tastiest Things to Eat, See and Do Before You Kick the Bucket!"

The Cave of the Winds in Niagara Falls State Park made the ranking in the January/February issue of "Every Day with Rachael Ray."

The inclusion came to fruition after the magazine contacted the Niagara Tourism & Convention Corp. (NTCC) late last year, searching for a place where visitors can “get wet at Niagara."

The Cave of the Winds came in seven out of the 50 things to do before you “kick the bucket” list created by author David Farley. He recommended the Cave of the Winds as the attraction to visit in Niagara, U.S.A., in order to get as close to the Falls as possible. The mention also includes fun facts about the Cave of the Winds, including how the wooden staircases are rebuilt every year and Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the United States.

“Being ranked in the top 10 of this checklist solidifies what we have known for decades, Niagara Falls is a bucket list destination,” said John Percy, President and CEO of the NTCC. “Niagara USA lures visitors from all over the world every year, and being able to get up close and personal with the Falls is part of the appeal.”

The Cave of the Winds is listed among other popular American sites and activities, including driving cross country on Rt. 66, seeing Alaska’s Northern Lights, driving through a Redwood forest and visiting Colorado’s Sand Dunes National Park.

"Every Day with Rachael Ray" is a nationwide magazine that reaches over 1.7 million readers per issue. The January/February 2013 publication is on newsstands now.
