A Wilson man pleaded not guilty Monday in Erie County Court in the alleged attempted murder of his ex-wife.
Jonathan Cheek, 68, 5165 Ide Road, was accused of attempting to kill his ex-wife at her Amherst home in January.
Officials denied to give out the name of Cheek’s victim or discuss a possible motive in the case.
“Cheek also allegedly tried to force her vehicle off the road,” Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said.
Cheek was charged by Amherst Police Jan. 14 with second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief.
Assistant District Attorney Peter J. Marchè said Cheek is not currently in custody because he posted bail in February.
Judge Timothy P. Franczyk said the defendant could face up to 25 years in state prison, if convicted.
Cheek is due back in court April 15 for a pre-trial conference.
