BLOTTER: Police reports published Jan. 2

Niagara Falls

• THEFT: A business on the 4800 block of Henry Avenue reported to police that sometime Sunday night someone cut a catalytic converter out of a work van, heavily damaging the exhaust pipe. The estimated loss and damage is $950.

Youngstown

• CHARGED: Dylan J. Proper, 20, 3959 Dickersonville Road, Ransomville, was charged with DWI, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, moving from a lane unsafely and leaving the scene of an accident about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. Called to East Avenue for an unwanted person complaint, deputies found Proper standing on a back porch highly intoxicated. He told the deputy he thought he was at his friend's house on German Road. When asked how he got there, Proper told the deputy he walked. The deputy put Proper in his patrol car to give him a ride home, but on the way they came across a car in a ditch on Youngstown-Lockport Road. The deputy asked Proper if that was his car and Proper responded it was, also admitting to drinking "seven and and three-quarters" cans of LaBatt Blue. Deputies later found that three-quarter empty can of beer in the passenger seat of Proper's vehicle. Proper was taken to Mount St. Mary's Hospital for facial injuries. A blood speciman was also secured by deputies.
