Youngstown house fire under investigation

YOUNGSTOWN — Fire officials are investigating a late Wednesday morning fire at 723 Main St. in Youngstown.

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies report that a woman walking her dog about 11:15 a.m. noticed the home on fire and flagged down a motorist to call 911.

The fire appeared to have originated on the south side of the residence near the basement ceiling and spread into the first floor. Four cats were reportedly in the home at the time of the fire and firefighters were able to locate one of them, which was rushed to a local vet for treatment.

A resident said they left the house about 10 a.m. and everything seemed normal.

There is no estimate of damage and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
