BLOTTER: Police reports published Jan. 12

Niagara Falls

• ARREST: A Canadian man was arrested for drunken driving Monday morning at the Rainbow Bridge. Henry Paetkau, 73, 701 Geneva St., St. Catharines, Ont., was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Paetkau was stopped at 11:49 a.m. as he was crossing the bridge. He told police he was “on his way to court” and had his last drink at “8 a.m.” Paetkau failed field sobriety tests, but refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

• ARREST: A Falls woman was arrested after a shoplifting incident. Annette L. Thuerwachter, 37, 522 Fifth St., was charged with petit larceny. The manager of a supermarket in the 1000 block of Portage Avenue told police Thuerwachter tried to leave his store at 12:05 p.m. Monday with a shopping cart with more than $200 worth of groceries without paying for the merchandise.

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 500 block of Fourth Street. A 56-year-old woman told officers sometime between 2 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Monday someone broke into her apartment by forcing open the door. The victim said a TV, a DVD player, some prescription medications and $20 worth of T-bone steaks were taken.

• ASSAULT: Officers are looking into an assault in the 1300 block of Niagara Street. An 18-year-old boy told police he was playing beer pong at a party at 4 a.m. Sunday when he got into an argument with another teen and was hit in the head with a full beer bottle by a 17-year-old boy. The victim was knocked unconscious and suffered a cut that required 36 stitches.

North Tonawanda

• DWI: Theresa R. Marino, 28, 1004 87th St., Niagara Falls, was arrested Sunday for aggravated DWI and driving left of pavement markings on River Road. Her blood alcohol content was found to be 0.23 percent. She is being held in lieu of $250 bail.

• HARASSMENT: Michael G. Tiedemann, 32, 316 77th Ave., Niagara Falls, surrendered Monday on a warrant for second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment. He is being held in lieu of $500 bail.
