Police still hunting gunman
Cataract City cops say they are stilling looking for a suspect who attacked a man in a Unity Park apartment and then shot up the victim’s car.
Police said they responded to a call of “shots fired” about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of Ninth Street.
A 25-year-old man told officers he had been inside an apartment there, along with several other adults and children, when he saw a man standing in the kitchen “holding a silver-colored revolver” at his side.
The suspect told the victim. “I thought we been through this (expletive). I got my gun, but you ain’t got yours.”
The victim said he and the suspect then began to argue and he was struck in the head with the revolver by the suspect.
After punching the suspect in his face and pushing him out of the apartment, the victim said he heard three gunshots. Police then discovered three bullet holes in the victim’s car.
No one was injured during the shooting.
Information from witnesses then led officers to a home in the 1800 block of South Avenue. For a brief period of time, police surrounded a the home and called for the Emergency Response Team.
Before the ERT could deploy, officers were able to enter and search the home and did not find the suspect.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, about 5-feet-8 and weighing about 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown sweatshirt that may have had the letter C on it.
