Fall police investigating Elmwood Avenue shooting

Niagara Gazette — Falls police got little help from the suspect or witnesses as they are seeking a suspect in an early morning shooting in the city's North End.

Investigators said two men were standing outside an apartment building in the 600 block of Elmwood Avenue at 2:30 p.m. when they were approached by another man.

The suspect displayed a handgun and shot one of the men in the left rib and chest area. He then fled from the scene in a maroon car.

The 32-year-old victim was rushed to the Erie County Medical Center with what detectives said were nonlife-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the victim is expected to recover.

Investigators said both the victim and a potential suspect were uncooperative in providing information about the shooting. Police have speculated the shooting may be drug related.

Anyone who may have information about the shooting is asked to call Falls police detectives at 286-4553.
