BLOTTER: Police reports published Nov. 21

GRAND ISLAND

Man jumps from town court
Authorities say a 20-year-old man is hospitalized after he apparently tried to commit suicide by jumping from the second floor of a court where he had just been arraigned on assault charges.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard says deputies had properly secured Sean Riordan and were leading him out of Town of Grand Island Court late Monday morning when he bolted and jumped over a railing on the second floor.
Howard says Riordan fell about 15 feet to the first floor. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he’s listed in stable condition.
The sheriff says the incident is being investigated.
Authorities say Riordan was arrested Saturday at his Grand Island home after his roommate reported being stabbed by Riordan during an argument.

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 700 block of Spruce Avenue. A 25-year-old woman told officers that sometime between 5 and 8:55 p.m. Monday someone broke into her home by breaking the glass on a rear door and opening it. The victim said a laptop computer, a flat screen TV, a pair of boots and some cash was taken.

• ROBBERY: Officers are looking for a suspect in a home invasion-style robbery in the 600 block of 24th Street. A woman told police that she noticed a suspicious man outside her home at 8:39 p.m. Monday, but then he walked away into a nearby alley. About 10 minutes later, the woman said she heard a commotion downstairs in her home and then the man who had been outside her home came running up the stairs, brandishing a black handgun. The gunman demanded money and took a wallet from another resident of the home. He was last seen running in the alley between 23rd and 24th streets where he was picked up by a white van.
