• ROBBERY: Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in the 1500 block of Pierce Avenue. A 28-year-old man told officers he was leaving a nearby convenience store at 5 p.m. Wednesday, when three male suspects attacked him and took $15. The victim said he was punched and then knocked to the ground and kicked by the suspects.
• ASSAULT: Officers are looking into an assault in the 3100 block of Ninth Street. A maintenance man for a housing development told police he was on a ladder changing light bulbs, at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, when two male suspects walked by and threw rocks at him. The victim said he was hit on the top of his head and behind his ear.
Town of Lockport
• DWI: On Wednesday, deputies from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reportedly arrested Andrew J. Aikin on the charges of first-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .15 percent, failure to keep right, operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate and a speed violation exceeding 55 mph. Patrol allegedly observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the Lockport Bypass at Robinson Road and made a traffic stop. Upon investigation, it was reported that deputies smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Aikin’s breath. A police report said several sobriety tests were issued to the suspect who failed them all and was “transported to the NCSO jail and held in lieu of $250 pre arraignment bail” pending appearance in the Town of Lockport court.

• MARIJUANA: Travis J. Poitras, 19, 2799 Upper Mountain Road, Lewiston was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Wednesday after Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic infringement. Upon investigation, the driver said there was no marijuana and said, “If you search you wont find anything.” A police report said deputies observed passenger, Poitras, moving around rapidly and searched him to find a bag of what seemed to contain green leafy vegetable material.
