Passenger takes cash, flees
A Grand Island woman told police Thursday an 18-year-old acquaintance snatched $80 from her after she gave him a ride.
The woman told police the teen called her and told her he was in distress and needed a ride. The woman picked him up at an unidentified plaza in the city and drove him to Caravelle Drive.
Once there, the teen reached into her purse, grabbed $80 and left the car, walking into an apartment on the street.
Police could not locate the teen.

Brounshidle Post burglarized
The Brounshidle American Legion Post’s treasurer told police he locked up the group’s office at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday. At around 10 a.m. Tuesday, the treasurer saw wood splinters on the floor, several desk drawers out of order and found a roll of stamps missing.
At that point nothing was reported to police. The area was cleaned up before Legion members found the latch of the office door laying in the corner four hours later. A further check of the desk drawers revealed $600 in cash and $40 in rolled quarters to be missing.
The treasurer added that there have been numerous contractors in and out of the building doing work, so the doors have been open for several weeks.
