NORTH TONAWANDA: Four health care workers arrested in point scam
Kalieda Health employees accused of computer fraud
Four Kalieda Health employees have been arrested for using a computerized bonus point system to take money.
North Tonawanda Police Capt. William Hall said police were informed of the scam by the company that administers the incentive program. The number of points, which are redeemed for prizes like flat-screen TVs, seemed unusually high to those in charge of the system.
“A couple employees got into the system with somebody else’s password and added points to certain accounts,” Hall said.
The illegal tampering was conducted between January and September, according to reports. Benjamin S. Stetser, 28, 152 Snug Haven Court, Tonawanda, and Diana C. Bartlett, 24, 3104 Niagara Falls Boulevard, North Tonawanda, were both charged with identity theft, felony grand larceny and computer tampering.
Others charged in the scam are facing lesser charges. Susan M. Comer, 54, 194 Wynnwood Ave., Tonawanda, was charged with petit larceny. Marcy S. Weese, 28, 180 Cottage St., Lockport, was charged with felony grand larceny.
Phyllis Gentner, spokeswoman for DeGraff Memorial Hospital, said she is aware of the investigation but is unable to comment because it is still ongoing.
