Child hit by car
A child riding a bike was injured when he was hit by a car Tuesday afternoon.
The child, whose name and age were not released, was riding his bike at Chestnut Ridge and Cottage roads when he was struck by a car.
Witnesses said the child was bleeding from the head and was lying on the ground, not moving.
Crews from the City of Lockport and Tri-Town fire companies responded to the scene, along with sheriff’s deputies.
Initially dispatchers were calling for a Mercy Flight helicopter, but the child was instead transported by ambulance to Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.
His condition was not released. Information about the driver of the car was also withheld Tuesday afternoon.

• THEFT: Police are investigating a theft from a cell phone business in the 5600 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. A company employee told officers that between Jan. 15 and June 17 a now former employee stole $40,000 worth of cell phones and cash. The suspect also stole a 1996 Ford Expedition that belonged to the business. Officers were also told the suspect may have taken a customer’s personal identification and may be using it.
• BURGLARY: Officers are looking into a burglary in a building in the 900 block of Rainbow Boulevard. Security officers for the property owner discovered that sometime between 8 and 11:59 p.m. Monday someone entered the building through a second-floor air vent. The property owner told police that $13,000 worth of copper wire, breakers and conduits was taken.
• THEFT: Police are investigating a truck break-in in the 100 block of Buffalo Avenue. A 58-year-old man told officers that sometime between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday someone broke into his 2008 Ford truck by smashing two rear vent windows. The victim said a GPS system, a battery charger and a Walkman were taken.
• BURGLARY: Officers are looking into a burglary in the 4300 block of Hyde Park Boulevard. A business owner told police that sometime between 4:30 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday someone broke into his business by smashing a plate-glass window. The victim said a quantity of speakers, amplifiers, radios, TVs, DVD players and DC players worth $4,300 were taken.
Wheatfield
• LARCENY: A Fritz Road man told deputies Monday that sometime since Saturday someone broke into his car and stole an amplifier, a band pass and two speakers, together worth $500.
City of Lockport
• DWI: Robert F. Germann, 41, 183 Prospect St., rear, was charged Monday with driving while intoxicated, failure to signal, driving without valid inspection and an equipment violation after a 2:05 a.m. traffic stop on Park Avenue. Germann failed several field sobriety tests, police said.
• HARASSMENT: Amber L. Triscari, 32, 556 28th St., Niagara Falls, was charged Tuesday morning with second-degree harassment. A Monroe Street woman told police Triscari called her several times a day for a week in October and threatened her. Triscari was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and held without bail.
City of Lockport
• TRESPASS: Roxanne S. Rivers, 31, 271 Locust St., Apt. 1A, was charged Monday night with trespass and petit larceny. A Locust Street man told police he had told Rivers several times to leave his apartment and she refused. Officers arrived and told Rivers to leave the apartment. She allegedly refused and became belligerent. After her arrest, officers searched her and reportedly found a prescription bottle containing Nexium pills belonging to the man. Rivers was held in lieu of $250 bail.

The scammer at the other end of the line had gotten lucky. After most likely making random calls to numbers in the 716 area code, he was able to catch the Town of Niagara woman when she was groggy, and slightly medicated from a minor surgical procedure earlier in the day. -
