NIAGARA FALLS: Inmate floods city jail cell ... again

Niagara Falls firefighters were called to the Main Street Public Safety Complex late Saturday to clean up a flood caused by an inmate who damaged a sprinkler.

Police charged Henri J. Alfiere, 26, of 2415 LaSalle Ave., upper apartment, with criminal mischief and obstruction of governmental administration after officers said he intentionally damaged a sprinkler head near his cell, causing a flood in the holding area.

It was the second such incident in less than a week and the third time in two weeks that inmates have been able to damage the sprinkler heads in their cells.

On Thursday night, firefighters assisted police in their cleanup efforts. Police commanders said jail officers caught the flooding “quickly” and limited the amount of water damage.
