Niagara Gazette — Guns should be for hunting only
”Land of the free, home of the brave,” where any nut with a little care can get a gun to kill people. When an attempt is made to limit the purchase for the sole purpose of hunting, there’s an uproar. I guess a lot of people’s manhood is threatened.
Does any other country allow civilians to wander around the streets armed to kill? When will we grow up and limit guns strictly for hunting? There are thousands of gun killings every year in our country but we have to have another massacre to (hopefully) get concrete action.
Let the NRA have its hunting rifles. No more killings of the innocent.

Park improvements good, but ...
I go to Griffin Park almost every day and I somewhat applaud Mayor Paul Dyster trying to better the park. But, and there always seems to be a but for our mayor, he wants to put a canoe launch at the park. Where would he put it? The little river is all muddied up and needs to be dredged at least from the launch to the river mouth. Maybe one of his people could ask the Corp of Engineers to help here.
Also, he put up a new kids playground great, but where did he put it? Near the boat launch where at any day in the summer the lot is full of boat trailers. Sometimes this is so full, the trailers park on River Road. The old playground had its own parking lot. Wait until this summer. What he should be doing now is cutting all the dead trees that have either fallen in the river or have fallen on each other which means, these will fall one of these days. Redoing the park I think is great, but how about planning first.
