NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. —
The Stanley Cup sure gets around.
It has been in strip clubs, bedrooms, showers, the bottom of swimming pools and on television shows such as Letterman, Leno and Howard Stern, but on Wednesday it was in Niagara Falls playing tourist by taking a ride on the world-famous Maid of the Mist boat.
For a small group of Boston Bruins fans who were lucky enough to be on that same boat ride, it will be a memory they will treasure forever.
The Stanley Cup was brought to Niagara Falls by Dan Paille, left winger for the Boston Bruins who is from Welland. Later in the day, the hockey hero and Cup made a number of stops in Welland where they held a Dan Paille Day.
"I was on here when I was a kid and always enjoyed it," said Paille, after getting on board and posing for a few pictures with the Cup at the front of the boat before it headed toward the Horseshoe Falls.
"I thought it would be kind of a cool idea to come with it on the Maid of the Mist," said Paille. "The boat is rocking pretty good so I'm not going to let go of this thing at all."
