Staff Reports
Village of Lewiston Trustee Ron Craft, who was appointed to replace former Trustee Ron Winkley, has announced his candidacy for a full, two-year term in the June 15 election.
Craft was employed as a process chemist at Oxy Durez for 27 years before relocating to Minnesota in 1995. He than opened an antique shop there, which he ran until 2005.
During a business trip to Lewiston in 2004, Craft walked through the village and was impressed that things appeared to be heading in the right direction. He said he noticed lots of volunteers helping to beautify the streetscape, plants being watered with village help and a lot of overall pride among the community.
Craft and his wife, Marlene, decided to relocate from Minnesota to the Village of Lewiston a year later. Together, they currently reside and operate Fine Antiques on Fourth Street.
Craft is a board member with the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, a representative on the Center Street/
Lewiston Advisory Board and membership chair of the Lewiston Community Lions Club.
While chartering the Lions Club, he received the Uplinger Award — the highest service award given to a Lion in New York.
Craft is a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where he has served as an elder and is currently serving on the financial board. He is also volunteering as a Webmaster.
