Lockport suspect caught with

pot in jail

A man who fled city police custody last week was caught with suspected marijuana in his jail cell Thursday, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

John Davis Jr., 32, 6556 Lincoln Ave., was charged with possessing prison contraband and unlawful possession of marijuana Thursday morning at the county jail.

A county correction officer reported finding two plastic baggies containing suspected marijuana on or near Davis’ person as Davis’ cell was searched. The officer said Davis admitted ownership of a baggie found on the floor next to his feet. The second baggie was found inside one of Davis’ socks, the arrest report said.

Davis was arraigned and pleaded guilty to the charges Thursday in Lockport Town Court, the report said. Davis was fined and was given a conditional discharge, then he was taken back to jail, the report said.

Davis turned himself in to Lockport Police on Wednesday, six days after he fled the scene when the vehicle he was riding in was stopped on Washburn Street for traffic infractions. During a search of the vehicle, police turned up unspecified quantities of marijuana and crack cocaine. When Davis surrendered, he was charged with obstructing government administration, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance and a traffic violation, no seat belt.

Yes. Items should be taxed like they are everywhere else.
No, the indian reservations are sovereign land and they are selling them on their land.
Not up to me. Native Americans decide the rules on their land.
Don't care. Smoking isn't good for you.
