LEWISTON —
The Niagara River Greenway Commission is expected to vote on a proposed $5 million for a project the Town of Lewiston has planned for Joseph Davis State Park.
The town is asking for $900,000 for a visitors center, as well as money for a ferry boat launch along the Niagara River.
Lewiston has a 10-year agreement with the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation to maintain and operate the 360-acre park. They’ve commissioned a local development corporation to investigate and plan the improvements and additions at the park.
The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Beaver Island State Park clubhouse, Park Road, Grand Island. The public session will be preceded by an executive session at 2 p.m.
Other items being voted on include:
• TOWN OF WILSON: Walkway and bicycle trail
• BUFFALO URBAN DEVELOPMENT CORP.: RiverBend Master Plan and green infrastructure plan
• BUFFALO NIAGARA RIVERKEEPER: Niagara River Riparian Restoration Program
• NIAGARA 1812 BICENTENNIAL LEGACY COUNCIL: 1812 Bicentennial commemoration
• BUFFALO OLMSTEAD PARKS CONSERVANCY: Front Park gateway
