NIAGARA FALLS —
For the second time in September, Niagara Falls has been named to a national publication’s list of popular places.
Travel and Leisure magazine has declared the city the fifth-most popular destination, reporting 22.5 million people visit the Falls each year. It ranks between New York City’s Grand Central Terminal (No. 6) and the Las Vegas Strip (No. 4).
Other tourist destinations ranking higher than Niagara Falls include Washington, D.C.’s Union Station and New York’s Central Park and Times Square.
The magazine’s ranking combined data from an array of organizations, publications and news organizations, according to the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corp. The ranking includes both the American and the Canadian cities.
There were 50 destinations ranked. The entire list is available on the magazine’s Web site, www.travelandleisure.com.
News of the ranking follows in the footsteps of Forbes Magazine naming the city the eighth-most popular destination earlier this month.
