Niagara Gazette — An 8-year-old boy reported missing from Cayuga Village about 9:30 a.m. Thursday was found about three hours later on Grauer Road by searchers in the Town of Niagara.
The youth was apparently looking for a relative, Town of Niagara Police Chief James Suitor reported.
Police were called to B Street in Cayuga Village at 9:20 a.m. for a report of missing child that was last seen on a front porch.
Due to the age of the child, Suitor said an extensive search was conducted with assistance from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office and K-9 unit, the Niagara Falls Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol and several members of Niagara Active Hose Vol. Fire Company.
It was members of the fire company who later found the child about 12:15 p.m. on Grauer Road — about 4 miles away from Cayuga Village.
The child was evaluated by EMS personnel and returned home.
Suitor said in a release he was thankful for the help Town of Niagara police received Thursday.
“I appreciated all the public safety agencies whose coordinated assistance was instrumental to finding the juvenile and reuniting him with his family.” he said. “I would also like to thank the many local residents who stopped celebrating their holiday and assisted in the search.”
