NIAGARA FALLS —
Falls police say a power blackout has darkened the city's North End.
About 2,000 people lost power after an apparent transformer explosion at around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Fairfield Avenue and Ninth Street.
Police said National Grid crews are working in the problem and hope to have power restored by 8:45 p.m.
Officers report no problems as a result of the blackout.
