Grand Island man injures hand in snowblower

GRAND ISLAND —

A Grand Island homeowner was hospitalized after a reported snowblower accident Saturday.

Grand Island Fire Co. personnel said a 51-year-old man was found with his hand stuck in the discharge chute of a snowblower he was operating at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at his residence on West River Road.

Chief Kevin Koch said the man reportedly reached in to clear some blockage when his hand was unexpectedly ensnared.

Firefighters reportedly had to disengage the snowblower before freeing the man and treating him at the scene for traumatic injuries. He was then transported to Erie County Medical Center for further attention.

Following the incident, fire officials cautioned snowblower operators to never reach into a machine under any circumstances, even while powered off, due to recoil action which can cause severe injuries.

Yes. Items should be taxed like they are everywhere else.
No, the indian reservations are sovereign land and they are selling them on their land.
Not up to me. Native Americans decide the rules on their land.
Don't care. Smoking isn't good for you.
