TOWN OF NIAGARA — Expansion plans for two Military Road businesses will be on the agenda Tuesday for the Town Board.
During a work session held Thursday, the two main points discussed were the request of Niagara DuPont Employee’s Credit Union to combine two separate lots and construct a new commercial building at 2525 Military Road. The board members said they have no problem with this as long as the building codes were not violated in the process.
The other business-related resolution involved the approval of a special use permit for Gene’s Wholesale, 2924 Military Road. An expansion plan for Gene’s includes a 4,500-square-foot garage behind the current building.
Once again, the board members said they had no problem with granting the permit. However, a few members said the town has had some problems in the past with builders not giving them the whole story.
“They tell us they want to build something and the town will approve it,” said board member Robert Clark. “Then, they’ll go and build eight other things that they didn’t tell us about.”
Board member Charles Teixeira commended Gene’s owner Gene Colucci for providing the board with an exact plan for the expansion.
“We want businesses in the town,” said Teixeira.
Also discussed at Thursday’s work session:
• A request from the Niagara Police Athletic League to use the town soccer fields this year.
• Liquor license renewal application for Party Time Café, 3964 Lockport Road.
• A resolution to approve the payment upon delivery of ID Networks Live scan electronic fingerprinting unit in the amount of $31,405. The money is funded through the state’s Department of Criminal Justice Services.
The town board’s monthly business meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
