The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office isn’t waiting any longer.
On Tuesday, a warrant was issued for the driver of the car that dragged a cocker spaniel puppy on Lake Avenue on Aug. 8.
Justice Leonard Tilney has issued the warrant for Suzanna R. Nunn, 22, of Tampa, Fla. The charge is animal cruelty, a Class A misdemeanor.
Linda Tilton, a manager of K&K; Food Mart on Lake Avenue, rescued the dog and named it “Walker.” Residents raised more than $3,800 to pay for emergency treatment at the SPCA serving Erie County.
According to Tilton, the sheriff’s department knew Nunn’s identity shortly after the incident and have been attempting to get her to answer charges.
“They were holding off putting the warrant because she said she was coming back, but she never came back,” Tilton said. “They gave her an opportunity to come back.”
It does not close the case for Tilton. “I spoke with an investigator today,” she said.
“It brought back a lot of things I put out of my mind. It brings up a lot of bad feelings.”
