(Albion) - Joyce E. Church (nee Castell), 78, passed away May 9, 2009. She was born August 17, 1930 to Allen and Beulah Castell in LaFargeville, NY. A graduate of the House of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing and Syracuse University where she earned a BS degree in Nursing, she was married to Sanford L. (Ted) Church in 1957 and moved to Albion, NY, where she lived for the rest of her life. A Registered Nurse, Mrs. Church was the Director of Nursing at Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital and was the longtime Director of Nursing at the Orleans County Nursing Home, and also worked as a public health nurse for Orleans County. Mrs. Church was a past member of the Albion Central School Board of Education, the Board of the Niagara-Orleans BOCES and the Lakeside Memorial Hospital Board, and was serving as an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Albion at the time of her death. She was honored as “Woman of the Year” by the Albion Business and Professional Women’s Club and was an officer of the Young Women’s Service Club. An avid bridge player, she was a member of the Garrett Club and also volunteered as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Mrs. Church was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, and is survived by three children, Sanford A. (Diane) Church, Katherine (Steven) LaLonde and Julie (Scott) Sanford, all of Albion; seven grand-children, Sanford B. and Molly Church, Michael, Timothy and Joyce LaLonde and Roland “Allen” and Bradley Sanford; her brothers, John (Angie) and Keith (Eileen) Castell; and a sister, Ella (Joe) Kulik and her nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, 12 Ingersoll Street, Albion. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 13th at 1:00 PM at The First Presbyterian Church of Albion, with Pastor Walter Stuber officiating. Interment will be in Mount Albion Cemetery. - PRIMARY: Clinton, McCain take New Hampshire Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won New Hampshire’s Democratic primary Tuesday night in a startling upset, defeating Sen.
