MONDAY: Mets, Bisons set to announce affiliation deal
New York Mets executives are in Buffalo to announce that the Triple A Bisons will be the major-league team’s top farm club.
Gov. David Paterson is also expected at Monday morning’s announcement at Dunn Tire Park, the Bisons’ downtown stadium.
Neither team has confirmed the announcement, but it was reported last week the Mets will be replacing the Cleveland Indians as Buffalo’s affiliate. The Mets’ Triple A team is moving from New Orleans.
The Bisons have been a Cleveland affiliate since 1995. The Indians are moving their International League affiliate to Columbus, Ohio.
The Mets, who have their Double A team in Binghamton, also considered Syracuse for their Triple A affiliate. Syracuse is expected to become Washington’s top minor league team.
