Niagara Frontier art exhibit opens at Kenan July 16

LOCKPORT — The Kenan Center House Gallery in Lockport is hosting its Niagara Frontier Art Exhibit July 16 through Sept. 3, featuring artisans from the Western New York region working in a variety of two- and three-dimensional media.

Since 1969, the Kenan Center’s Niagara Frontier Art Exhibit has provided a forum for significant new works by artists from Western New York. The juried show features a variety of media including oils, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, photography, pen and ink, mixed media work, sculpture and ceramics.

Six cash awards will be presented during the opening reception including Best of Show, Juror’s Choice Purchase Award, the Sheila Whalen Memorial Realism in Drawing Award, and three Awards of Excellence. In addition, three Honorable Mention Awards will be given.

The works were juried by Grace Meibohm, owner and manager of Meibohm Fine Arts, Inc. in East Aurora.

The Kenan Center House Gallery is located in the Kenan House, 433 Locust Street, Lockport. An active exhibition space since 1966 when it featured the works of Charles Burchfield, the Kenan Center House Gallery hosts exhibits year round of local, regional and national artists.

Situated on 25 beautiful acres in historic Lockport, the Kenan Center is a regional community center for arts, education and recreation.

Gallery hours are noon-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 2-5 p.m. Sunday. A free public reception and awards presentation will be held from 7-9 p.m. July 16.
