NIAGARA FALLS — Do you know a young person who likes to groove? Maybe can’t sit still during all those reality dance shows on prime time TV?

There are free dance classes for young people are being held at Miss Bev’s Dance Studios on Pine Ave. Saturday to celebrate National Dance Day, an event sponsored by the Fox TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance.”

“They’re encouraging people from all across the country to get up and dance and to experience all that dance has to offer and how much fun it can be,” said Lisa Rivera of Miss Bev’s Dance Studio at 1814 Pine Ave.

National Dance Day, being held Saturday, is being built around a special dance conceived by Hip Hop choreographers, Napoleon and Tabitha D’umo of “So You Think You Can Dance,” and already being practiced by young people all over the country, she said.

“We’re going to teach that dance,” said Rivera. “We wanted to do something for youth in our area to show them how much fun dance can be.”

The workshops are being held from 10 a.m. to noon for ages 6-12 and from 1 to 3 p.m. for ages 13 and up.

The workshops will be free and there is also going to be other fun activities including face painting, Rivera said.

“There will be no fee,” she added. “We didn't want there to be any barriers to a child who wants to come out and dance.”
