NCCC 'Expanding Dimensions' with show

Niagara Gazette — Niagara County Community College’ Dolce Valvo Art Center is opening its new exhibit “Expanding Dimensions” with an opening reception from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today at the college.

The show features the work of four former NCCC students:

JACK MASSING — For over 20 years Jack Massing together with Michael Galbreth comprise the Houston–based team known as The Art Guys. They create drawings, prints and sculpture as well as performances. Aptly put by The New York Times, “The Art Guys are ...a cross between Dada, David Letterman, John Cage and the Smothers Brothers.” For further information and to see their very entertaining work visit their website www.theartguys.com.

PATRICK ROBIDEAU — A repected sculptor in the Western New York, he recently showed an installation at the Burchfield, Pat’s Farm. He will have a solo exhibition at Hallwalls this spring. His website is www.patrickrobideau.net.

KURT VON VOETSCH — An artist who lives and works in Western New York, Von Voetsch has continually translated his personal life’s trauma into compelling art. He was most recently part of Beyond/In WNY 2010

MICHAEL DOMINICK — Living and working in Manhattan, over the past few years he has been working on a series of molten iron paintings. He treats the archival paper with a liquid compound of his own creation to make it remarkably resistant to the 2800 degree molten iron. He will also be in Western New York for the Nor-Easter Iron Conference at Buffalo State College where he will be exhibiting, moderating a panel discussion called “Iron: Is it Holding You Back” and creating a suite of molten iron paintings.

The exhibit runs through Nov. 17 and is part of the 50th year anniversary celebration of NCCC. The gallery is located in the D building of the college, at 3111 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesdays, noon to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon to 3 p.m. on Friday and noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
