Mary (Moceri) Rizzo Catania

WHEATFIELD —  

Mary (Moceri) Rizzo Catania, of Wheatfield, NY, celebrated her 98th birthday in heaven. Born in Bristol, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Concetta (Tilotta) Moceri.
Mary came to Niagara Falls as a child with her family. She had several careers throughout her lifetime and retired in 1975 from the Globar Division of the Carborundum Company in Niagara Falls. Mary was passionate about music and she particularly loved to sing.  She also enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting and tatting. Most important to Mary was her faith in Jesus Christ and spending time with her family.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Sam Rizzo, in October 1971; and by her second husband, Samuel Catania, in May 2007. She is survived by two daughters, Lydia (John) Bongiovanni and Rosalie (late Paul) Hogan, both of Niagara Falls, NY; four grandchildren, Paul (Marie) Bongiovanni, Richard (Jill) BonGiovanni, Paul (Krista) Hogan and Rosemari Hogan; eight great-grandchildren, Timothy (Katie) Bongiovanni, Jason Bongiovanni, Katie (Chris) Charczuk, Ashley Bongiovanni, Michael BonGiovanni, Katie (Cody, 2nd Lt. U.S. Army Rangers) Whitmire, Zachary Hogan and Andrew Hogan; one great-great-grandson, Nathan Bongiovanni; one sister-in-law, Josephine (late August) Moceri of Niagara Falls, NY; her nieces and nephews, Ken (Janet) Penvose, Lowell (Yvonne) Mallard and John (Maria) Shomers IV; two step-children, Nancy (Paul) Chiaro of Florida and John (Naomi) Catania of Maryland; five step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one sister, Nimfa (late Jack) Shomers. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present to receive friends from 3-4 p.m. on Friday October 12, 2012 followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. in the Forestview Church of God, 1250 Saunders Settlement Road, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Ronald Maines officiating. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Arrangements by M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.
