Concetta D. McConeghy

Surrounded by her family, Concetta D. McConeghy entered into rest on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 in St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY, at the age of 78. Born on February 21, 1934, in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Vincent Capolupo and Mariangela (nee Rosignuolo) Capolupo.
A graduate of St. Mary's High School, Connie received a Bachelor's Degree from Nazareth College and her Master's Degree from Buffalo State College. She was employed as an elementary teacher by the Niagara Falls Board of Education for 34 Years. A highly gifted and respected educator, Connie helped shape the lives of many of her students through her professional dedication and love of learning. She was proud to be part of the Gifted and Talented Math Program at the University of Buffalo. Connie married Alexander R. McConeghy on November 28, 1959 in Niagara Falls, NY. She was a member of the College Club of Niagara Falls and a former member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Sorority.
Besides her beloved husband, Connie was the cherished mother of two children, Elizabeth (Nicholas) Buscaglia of Hamburg, NY and Vincent McConeghy of Amherst, NY; the very best Nona to Alexander Balmer, Carolyna and Matthew McConeghy; sister and best friend of Carolyna Capolupo of Niagara Falls, NY and Claudia Capolupo of Grand Island, NY; she is also survived by a dear sister-in-law Agnes (late James) McConeghy; nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, she was blessed to have the love and support of an extensive network of friends that she steadfastly maintained throughout her life. The family wishes to acknowledge, with profound gratitude, the care she received from Dr. Roy Greenberg of the Cleveland Clinic and the staff of St. Mary's Hospital.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 10:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated from St. Raphael Church (formerly St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus) at 11 AM. Friends invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Lung Association of WNY would be appreciated. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
