NIAGARA FALLS — John A. Antosh, longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013, after a lengthy illness. He was 84. He was born in Plains, PA on November 28, 1928, a son of the late Joseph and Ann (Timko) Antosh. He attended schools in Pennsylvania and then entered the United States Navy. He served his country during World War II and participated in Operation Crossroads aboard the USS Panamint, and was involved in the underwater testing of the Atomic Bomb on July 25, 1946 at Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands in the Pacific.

After the war Mr. Antosh married Florence Suller and they moved to Niagara Falls in 1965, and he worked as a chemical operator for Durez Plastics in North Tonawanda until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed gardening and sports, including baseball, hockey and football, but his greatest joy was his time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Antosh is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence (Suller) Antosh; two sons, Glenn (Kathy) Antosh of Honeybrook, PA, and Mark Antosh of West Seneca, three grandchildren, John and Ashley of Pennsylvania, and Joe of West Seneca; and his sister, Mary Butera. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Joe, Bill and Robert Antosh, Ann Stankcavage and Dorothy Ciechoski.

There will be no prior visitation and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Dallas, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Antosh's behalf to Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence.
