Robert J. Weller

LEWISTON — Robert J. Weller, of Youngstown, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY.

He was born in Ellwood City, PA, on February 5, 1937, the son of the late Allan and Ethel (Burns) Weller.

Mr. Weller graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City in 1955, and from Penn State University in 1961. He served with the US Army and Army National Guard for several years.

Mr. Weller was the transportation supervisor with Union Carbide, which later became Praxair in Elyria, OH, before being transferred to Niagara Falls in 1981, before retiring in 1994.

He served as the President of the Lew-Port School Board, was a spokesperson for "us too" and volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in Buffalo. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, gardening, reading and traveling.

Mr. Weller is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lucy (Miller) Weller; three sons, Jeff Weller of Panama City, FL, Rob Weller of Albany, GA, and Jeffrey (Debbie) Butler of Willoughby, OH; one daughter, Shannon (Ron) Young of Lagrange, OH; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Jordan, Tyler and Pierce Young, Ashley, Tara and Jesse Butler; three sisters, Nina Barker, Pam Taylor and Darla Williams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Weller.

Private funeral services were held at the wishes of his family. Memorials may be made in his name to Us Too International Prostate Cancer Education Support,  www.ustoo.org or to the American Lung Association. Arrangements were made though the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, Lewiston, NY.
