Dorothy Jean "Davis" Smith, also known as "Dot" and "Aunt Dot", of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY.
She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on June 1, 1953, a daughter of the late Fred and Dixie Lee (Carter) and Fred Davis.
Mrs. Smith worked for Staff Builders and Mercycare of Niagara Falls for years until her illness. She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing puzzles and fishing.
Mrs. Smith was the wife of the late James Smith, who departed February 2, 2002.
She is survived by one son, Marlowe J. (Lowe) Smith; two daughters, Melisha "Lady" Paonessa, Adrianne "Mudder" (Jimmy) Swanson. Dorothy was adored by her loving grandchildren, Timothy and Maranda Paonessa, Quanaijah Smith and Nasir Benton; four great-grandchildren; one brother, John Daniels; one sister, Ollie J. Davis. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Jimmie Davis, Jr., Felix Davis, FreddieMae Davis and WillieMae Clark.
The family will be present on Monday from 11-12 PM at the Convenant of Grace Ministries, 1509 Main Street, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM, with Bishop Joseph Brinson officiating. Visit www.rhoneyfuneralhome.com for guest register.
