Constance "Connie" J. Rodhy

NIAGARA FALLS —  

Constance "Connie" J. (Shanesey) Rodhy, 73, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Neubauer) Shanesey.
Connie was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. In 1969, she married Kenneth R. Rodhy in Niagara Falls, NY. Kenneth predeceased her in 1993. Connie was employed as a claims processor by the New York State Department of Labor in Niagara Falls. She was a devout Catholic and member of the former Sacred Heart Church where she served as a lay Eucharistic Minister and was a member of their R.C.I.A. team (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). She also worked as the parish secretary of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for ten years. Connie was currently a parishioner of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish where she served as a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and as an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary.
Connie was also an active member in several other local organizations including the, Council of Catholic Women, Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Board of Directors at Oakwood Cemetery. She was a past member of the Elks Lodge in Niagara Falls and a devoted volunteer at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where she loved to participate in their annual "Rock-A-Thon" fundraiser. Connie was the recipient of the Bob Laurrie Religious Service Award, and in 2012 she was named "Hibernian of the Year." Connie adored her cats, Timmy and Tommy.
Constance was predeceased by two sisters, Mae (late Charles) Connor, Betty (late Richard) Sennett; and two brothers, John (Jeanne of Niagara Falls, NY) Shanesey and Bernard (Fran of Niagara Falls, NY) Shanesey. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a great-great-niece, who loved her dearly and thought of her as an angel here on earth and now as an angel in heaven.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-6 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 21st at 10 AM in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Duane Klizek, Rev. Stewart Lindsay O.S.F.S and Rev. William McGarry officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. The Ancient Order of Hibernians will conduct a service on Thursday at 5:30 PM at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
