Steve W. Gelnette

LOCKPORT — Steve W. Gelnette entered into rest on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Hospice House in the Town of Lockport, NY, after a long battle with cancer.

Steve was a veteran who served in the Air Force and had numerous awards for his service to his country. He enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, listening to music, his dog Casey, and was a Buffalo Bills fan.

Steve was also a amateur radio (HAM) operator with the call sign of WB7OCV and won            world-wide awards for contests, and received the license of Amateur Extra from the FCC.   

Steve is survived by his spouse, Marjorie Gelnette (Chaplin) of Sanborn;  daughters, Cori (Kirk) Larsen and Cynthia O'Brien, both of Seattle, WA,  Denise (Peter) Robinson of Lockport, NY; and a son, Steve O'Brien of Seattle, WA. Steve is also survived by sisters, Glenda (Jim) Goode of Wilson, NY and Lori (Randy) Pietkiewicz of Lockport, NY; and a brother, Dan Gelnette of Niagara Falls, NY; and several grandchildren.

A memorial service will be planned for the spring. Memorials can be made to the Disabled American Veterans  at www.dav.org to donate.
