Louis J. Grabiec, Sr.

NIAGARA FALLS — Louis J. Grabiec, Sr., 89, a lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away, suddenly, on Saturday, November 24, 2012 in Syracuse, NY. Lou served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. He spent his working career with Hooker Chemical Co. Lou enjoyed fishing, hunting, aviation, woodworking and especially his family. He was known for his loving, generous spirit and sense of humor.

Lou is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jean (Siekierko) Grabiec; his daughter, Gail (Russ) McGillivray of Caledon, Ontario; son, Gary (Irene) Grabiec of Morrisville, NY; and predeceased by his son, Louis (Martha) Grabiec, Jr. of Ft Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michelle (James) McDermott-Dunphy, Melissa Grabiec, Ryan, James, David and Sarah Grabiec; and great-granddaughter, Savanna McDermott; along with one sister, Kay Nowicki; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Max V. Grabiec; and sisters, Bernice Skrobacz and Julie Zaleski.
Friends may call on Friday, November 30th from 4-8 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC., 319-24th Street, cor. Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Parish (Prince of Peace site) on  Saturday, December 1st at 11:00 AM with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. A reception will follow at St. Vincent DePaul Parish Center 2748 Military Rd., Niagara Falls, NY. Donations in his memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
