Jeanne Shearer

WILSON — Jeanne Shearer, age 98, formerly of Niagara Falls, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at her daughter's home in Wilson, while under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice.

Jeanne was born May 8, 1914 in Blairsville, PA, the daughter of the late John A. and Lila P.  (Kunkle) Helman. She married Lawrence "Roy" Shearer in 1945 and they moved to Niagara Falls. Roy predeceased her in 1995 and she moved to Wilson five years ago. For 11 years in the 1970 and 1980s, Jeanne worked in the dietary department at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. She was a former member of St. James United Methodist Church in Niagara Falls. An avid bowler, Jeanne bowled in many leagues in the Falls. She loved reading, soap operas and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Judy (Joe) Yorkoski, Paige (Darlene) Silvis, Pamela Barber (Dale Shank), Deborah (Bob) Aures, Susan (Richard) Sabey, Timothy Shearer and Wendy  Lojek; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was  predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Silvis; two brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Thursday, December 20, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Memorial services will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Gregory Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.
