Dominick P. Vitale, Sr.

LOCKPORT — Dominick P. Vitale, Sr., 86, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013, while under the care of Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY, and his daughter, Laura. Born in Omaha, NE, he was the son of the late John and Carmela (Enna) Vitale.

Dominick moved to New York City as a child with his family. He attended local schools and later served in the United States Navy as an Apprentice Seaman during World War II. On October 22, 1955, he married AnnaMae (Prevete) Vitale. Dominick was employed as a machinist, and later on inventory clerk at Tubular Textile Machinery Corporation in Woodside, NY for over 20 years. In 1992 Dominick and his wife moved to the Niagara Falls area where he currently resided. Mrs. Vitale predeceased him on March 30, 2005. Dominick was a member of the American Legion Post 1142 and Prince of Peace Church, both in Niagara Falls, NY.  He was an avid sports fan and had a love for music. He especially enjoyed watching live musicians perform, especially the Falls Street Rockers. Dominick was a transplanted New Yorker who embraced the people and lifestyle of Niagara Falls.

Mr. Vitale is survived by his four children, Laura Lasher (Richard Scarcelli) of Niagara Falls, NY; Frances (Martin) Leyden of Middle Village, NY; Dominick P. Vitale, Jr. (Brian Grandfield) of Westbury, NY, and Marie (Robert) Brom of Rohnert Park, CA; two beloved grandchildren, Marc Lasher and Stephanie Leyden, and was a special Great-Popi to Chloe Lasher. He is also survived by two special nephews, Paul and John Vitale, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dominick was also predeceased by one brother, Paul J. (late Lisa) Vitale.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 5th from 3-7 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Vitale's memory may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094; or to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation, 621 Tenth Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14302.
