Martha P. (Mallo) Schifano

NIAGARA FALLS —  

Martha P. (Mallo) Schifano, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in Elderwood Healthcare at Riverwood in Grand Island, NY. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 12, 1917 to the late Anna (nee Gerbasi) and Charles Mallo.
Mrs. Schifano was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and a graduate of St. Joseph Grammar School and Niagara Falls High School. In October 1946, the former Martha P. Mallo married Salvatore Schifano in St. Joseph Church. He passed away on February 14, 1975. For many years, Mrs. Schifano worked as a receptionist for her late brother, Dr. Joseph Mallo. Later on she worked as a TV Hostess at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center until her retirement in 1997. Mrs. Schifano was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed crocheting, and was a caretaker, and was very dedicated to her family and friends and was always there to help.
She is survived by two children; Anne Schifano of Niagara Falls, NY and Carl (Kathy) Schifano of Grand Island, NY; four grandchildren, Amanda (Joel) DiCesare of Niagara Falls, NY, Elizabeth (Michael) Reeves-O'Connor of Rochester, NY, Robin (Jeremy) Schifano Simons of Houston, TX, Charles Schifano of New York City; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Schifano was predeceased by her parents; her husband, the late Salvatore Schifano; three siblings, the late Mary Sheusi, the late Dr. Joseph Mallo and the late Jerome Mallo.
The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 3-7 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, where prayers will be said Monday morning at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls at 10:00 AM. Rev. Stewart M. Lindsay, OSFS officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. Friends invited.
