Philip J. Swartz

NORTH TONAWANDA — Philip J. Swartz, of North Tonawanda, age 54, passed away, unexpectedly, on January 26, 2013, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Swartz was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 2, 1958, son of the late Robert and Jean (nee Murphy) Swartz.

Mr. Swartz attended local schools in Niagara Falls and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.

Philip was a machine operator who worked for Bixford-American Coaster for many years, and in recent years worked for Pioneer Printing in North Tonawanda. Mr. Swartz was an avid golfer and known for his quick whit and sharp sense of humor.

Philip is best remembered for his willingness to help others. He was neighborly and helped anyone who needed assistance.

Beloved husband of 16 years to Linda (nee Whitcomb) Swartz; loving stepfather of Brian (Heather) Larson; brother of Maureen Walsh, Lee (Florence), Michael, Karen (Richard) Smith, Paul (Carol Stankovich), Dennis (Ann Marie), Donald (Patricia), Lawrence (Jonna), Mary Anne Swartz and the late Timothy (Joanne); son-in-law of Cortland and Helen Whitcomb; brother-in-law of Susan (Edward) Falcone of CT, Marlene(Michael) Janda and Gary Whitcomb; nephew of Sister Bernadette Greiser, RSM; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and his very special pets, Suzi, Mariah, Zoe, Riley and Sammy.

Friends may call THURSDAY 4 to 8 PM in the WATTENGEL Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held FRIDAY at 10:00 AM. Private interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.                                                                           "We have lost a very kind, compassionate, loving, amazing man that we will miss terribly."
