FRIENDSHIP, NY —
William "Bill" Philip Lewis, 62, of Friendship, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late William S. and Bertha M. (Vaughn) Lewis.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Marines as a Private First Class from February 19, 1968 until his honorable discharge on February 28, 1974. He was the recipient of a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and the M-14 Marksmanship Badge. Bill was a self employed truck driver for fifteen years in Colorado until retiring in 1999. During the 1960's, Bill competed as a Golden Gloves amateur boxer competing throughout the area. He was currently a member of the V.F.W. Post 2721 in Cuba, NY. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and four wheeling. He also liked photography especially with wildlife.
William is survived by three children, Tina Lewis, Theresa Lewis and Jesse Lewis; two brothers, Albert (Joanne) Lewis of Sanborn, NY; one sister, Sandy (David) Duncan of Niagara Falls, NY and Thomas (Mabel) Lewis of the Town of Niagara; one step-brother, Charles (Ann) Osborne; two step-sisters, Agatha Pasmore and Henrietta Powell; his nephew, Daniel Snavely of Dansville, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Sharon Ecker; and three brothers, Donald (Beth) Lewis, John Lewis and Graydan Lewis.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 2nd from 2-4 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, where funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Robert Fink officiating, concluding with Military Honors. Interment will be held in Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association, P.O.
