LEWISTON —
Stephanie J. (Mocniak) Daley, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, with her children at her side. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on March 20, 1926, the daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Jarosz) Mocniak.
Stephanie graduated Trott High School and briefly worked at Spirella Manufacturing and Moore Business Forms, before marrying the late Bernard J. Daley, Jr. They briefly lived in Lansing, Michigan before returning to Niagara Falls, NY, and eventually residing in Lewiston, NY, for fifty-six years.
Family members shared she had a great sense of humor, loved cooking and taking care of nature, especially feeding her birds and admiring her roses. She proudly raised six daughters. Stephanie was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Recently she re-Iearned her native language of Polish and discovered her hidden artistic abilities. Her floral art work was most recently on display at Wedgewood Senior Care home.
Stephanie is survived by six daughters, Carolyn Daley-Figueroa of Fairfax, CA, Janine Daley-Santosuosso of Haverhill, MA, Maureen Henry of Delta Junction, AK, Kathleen Daley of North Tonawanda, NY, Diane Daley of Stafford, VA, and Susan Bray of Centreville, VA; one sister, Jane (late Frank J.) Sermak of Lewiston, NY; also survived by eight grandchildren, Josiah, Hannah, Jonah, Samuel, Nathanial, Jobe, Lydia and Grace; as well as a number of nephews and nieces. She was the mother of the late Denise and James John Daley; and sister of the late Anne Bos, Frank, Walter, Chester, Henry and Thaddeus Mocniak.
The family will be present on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 AM, followed by
Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY, with the Rev. Michael P. Zuffoletto officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Buffalo Hospice, 225 Como Park Blvd., P.O. Box 590, Buffalo, NY 14240. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY, where both her late husband; and son, James John, are buried.
