Elizabeth J. Devole

NEWFANE — Elizabeth J. Devole, age 65, of the Town of Cambria, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane, after a brief illness.

Elizabeth was born September 29, 1947 in Olean, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Minnie (Schultz) Smiley and lived here most of her life. On October 8, 1966, she married Glenn A. Devole who predeceased her on June 26, 2007. Elizabeth was an Assembly Line Operator, employed by GM Harrison Radiator in Lockport for 30 years, retiring in 2002.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling to Florida and spending the winters there at her home. She was very involved in her    grandchildren's lives and was especially an avid fan of their sporting activities.

She is survived by her children, Glenn A. Devole, Jr. of the Town of Cambria; and Linda (Thomas) Thompson of Burt, NY; her grandchildren, Scott and Taylor Devole; Kaitlyn, Thomas and Michael Thompson; three brothers, Duane (Kathy) Smiley of Syracuse, NY; Thomas (late Priscilla) Smiley of Rantoul, IL; and James (Pam) Smiley of Wilson. She was predeceased by a sister, Yvonne Johnson.

Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Sunday from 3-7 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. David Duke officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria.
