NIAGARA FALLS — Beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician, medical director, leader of the           community and friend has come to rest peacefully surrounded by many of his loving family members on March 3, 2013, after lengthy illness.

Beloved husband of Miriam "Mimi" Schiff. Devoted father of Karen (Douglas) Lustig, Barbara (Alan) Fine, Janet (John DiFiore) Schiff-DiFiore and Sandy (Rob Robinson) Schiff. Loving grandfather of Ben (Michelle) Lustig, JoEllen Lustig, Lindsay (Brendan) MacKenzie, David and Jeffrey Fine, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Sara DiFiore. Great grandfather of Alyssa MacKenzie. Brother of the late June (Jack) Slivken. Also survived by  six nieces, two nephews and their families.

His pediatric private practice served Niagara County from 1952-1989. Also, attending          Pediatrician, Honorary Staff at Children's Hospital in Buffalo, NY and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, Emeritus, SUNY at Buffalo. His distinguished professional life was honored  time and again over 50 years of service and commitment to the Medical Community of Niagara County and beyond. His leadership exemplified through his dedicated years of service as Chief of Pediatrics, Chief of Staff and Medical Director, serving both Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. His commitment and compassion        continued throughout  his professional career in the Religious Communities - as an involved, active member of Temple Beth Israel of Niagara Falls and Chairman for the Annual Citation Awards from the National Council of Christians and Jews; in local and state programs in public health serving United Way, Cerebral Palsy, the Health Planning Council, the Aids Task Force,  Past President of the Martha Beehman Clinic; also on the Niagara University Council. Most notably he was the founder and chairman of the Niagara County Child Maltreatment Council, advocate member of the Niagara County Task Force on Child Sexual Abuse.  

His lifelong devotion and support of his wife in raising their four daughters and in her            accomplished art career, as well as unconditional love and support of his four daughters and their husbands and families, is notably shown through the adoration of his eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He touched many lives in many ways as a confidante and friend, living life to the fullest and always leading by example.

Funeral service from the AMHERST MEMORIAL CHAPEL, INC., 281 Dodge Rd., Thursday at 10:00 AM. A period of mourning will be observed at the Niagara Falls Country Club Thursday from 12:30-2:30 PM. No prior visitations. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to Mount St Mary's Hospital or a children's charitable foundation of your choice.
