BURT —
Joyce A. Spicer, age 85, formerly of Niagara Falls, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Joyce was born on August 24, 1926 in Johnsonburg, PA, the daughter of the late Harry A. and Ida L. (Guenther) Corwin.
She came to Niagara Falls as a child from Pennsylvania. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School, Class of 1944. She married Dewey C. Spicer on May 16, 1947. He predeceased her on January 15, 1984. Joyce worked many years for the Niagara Falls Gazette, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed reading, bowling, gardening, going to yard sales and flea markets, traveling, sewing and spending time with her family.
Joyce is survived by a son, Steven M. Spicer of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Susan L. (Patrick Dixon) Harris of Burt, NY; and a grandson, Tyler J. Harris.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, on Monday, February 6th from 5-7 PM. A memorial prayer service will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
